Hello all! In less than 48 hours I will be heading to Buenos Aires, Argentina to study at Belgrano University for the next six months. While there, I will be living with a couple named Cacho and Ana Basalo whose son, daughter-in-law, and grandchild live in Warsaw, IN (a short distance from my college).
I have to admit I'm rather nervous to start this new adventure, but I'm certainly excited as well! I will be taking intensive Spanish classes for the first two months, then taking history, culture, literature, and tango (yes, I said TANGO) classes for the final four months. I will be totallly immersed in the Spanish language and Argentina culture for that time. I'm also anticipating opportunities to explore the city, form relationships with the youth at the church there, travel to points of interest throughout the country, and (most importantly?) try all kinds of new foods!!
Like I said, all this change does make me a bit nervous, but I'm also realizing I've been given an amazing opportunity to trust in God and rely on Him. From living with a different language to living with a new family, from figuring out the bus system to forming new relationships, from trying new (strange) foods to figuring out how to live without peanut butter (I don't know how the Argentines do it!), I know that God will have lessons for me in the big things and the small things, and I am praying that I may enter this time with an open heart and a willing spirit.
So until next time, I'd appreciate it if you'd pray for safe travels, smooth trips through customs, and open eyes to see what God has prepared for the first few days of my trip!
We are SOOO excited for you and your trip to start tomorrow! We love you with all our hearts and we will be praying DAILY!!!
